STARTedUP Innovation Educator Fellowship
Transform your classroom into a hub of innovation
About the Fellowship
We believe teachers have a higher calling
The STARTedUP Innovation Educator Fellowship is a professional development program designed to empower every educator with the framework and content needed to teach innovation and become hubs of real-world impact and opportunity by challenging their students to solve problems in their communities.
The Fellowship connects teachers with year-round support from like-minded peers, exclusive networking opportunities, and all of the tools and resources needed to allow students to find passion and purpose by doing meaningful, real-world work in the classroom.
The STARTedUP curriculum challenges students to see problems in the world, not just as problems, but as opportunities. Students then discover their own passions and learn how to connect them as solutions to the problems they’ve identified in their communities. As students dive into the content, educators take on the role of facilitating local connections and helping students discover the resources available in their own backyard. No one knows more people than teachers, and this program demonstrates exactly how connected educators are in their communities.
You’ll be supported by an incredible network
The Fellowship shows teachers the power of building ecosystems. You’ll discover an expansive array of resources for you and your students while working with other educators in your area traversing the same ecosystem.
In addition to incredible peers, you gain access to the huge network of STARTedUP events, workshops, ambassadors, mentors, and partner organizations.

FAQs
-
Nope! At STARTedUP we believe all school subjects can be enhanced by innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. We have fellows teaching a wide range of subjects from business to humanities to science. What we've discovered is that regardless of the subject they teach, teachers can seamlessly integrate our curriculum into their existing comprehensive curriculum or use it as a supplementary resource to enrich their current curriculum.
-
The stipend amounting to up to $1,000 is contingent upon meeting the following criteria:
Attendance at a minimum of 7 out of 9 meetings
Fulfillment of all ecosystem engagement goals
Achievement of all ambassadorship goals
Integration of at least 6 out of the 18 modules into your taught content areas.
-
No problem! At STARTedUP, we recognize that teachers have demanding schedules, so we've designed the program to allow each educator to miss up to three meetings.
-
During the monthly evening virtual meetings, spanning eight sessions, you'll connect with like-minded educators and explore local opportunities to enhance your classroom and foster an entrepreneurial mindset. Each meeting will last two hours.
The first hour will focus on delving into curriculum resources that support entrepreneurial thinking. For instance, in month one, we'll cover best practices, followed by discussions on thinking like an entrepreneur in month two, and so on.
In the second hour, our community coaches—experienced fellows from your region—will lead breakout sessions. These sessions are designed to foster intimate conversations, allowing you to delve into ambassadorship opportunities, strategies for involving more community leaders in the classroom, and collaborating with coaches to craft and execute a tailored curriculum plan aligned with your content area.
-
Absolutely! You can participate in the fellowship year after year. We have several fellows in their second or third year, known as community innovation coaches, who lead breakout sessions and share insights with newer fellows. While you'll need to reapply annually, we're always enthusiastic and supportive of fellows returning for another year.
-
The true time commitment for a busy teacher includes 18 hours for the meetings (assuming attendance at all nine), along with the time required to fulfill ecosystem and ambassadorship goals, and the preparation and teaching of each integrated module.
As a guideline, we typically advise educators to allocate around 1 hour per week outside of class for every hour spent in class. This ensures sufficient time for meeting all commitments effectively.
-
To seamlessly integrate the STARTedUP Foundation's curriculum into your existing comprehensive curriculum, you can utilize it as a supplementary resource to enhance your pre-existing curriculum
As a fellow, you'll collaborate with an assigned STARTedUP Community Innovation Coach to develop a personalized curriculum implementation plan. This plan will involve integrating six out of the 18 available modules
