Over the weekend, State Finalists traveled to Indianapolis to refine their pitches and complete innovation challenges with local business leaders.
Day 1
State Finals Prep
On Saturday, our top 10 teams received personalized mentorship from over 40 dedicated professionals. The day began with a keynote from Ellen White of CICP, followed by insights from TechPoint's Ting Gootee.
During rotating sessions, students focused on setting business goals and creating roadmaps for their ventures. Mentors guided teams on securing funding and managing finances. The workshop concluded with students developing strategies to create compelling sizzle reels to effectively explain their businesses and the problems they aim to solve. To wrap up the day, everyone enjoyed an Indianapolis Indians game.
Day 2
Innovation Challenge
On Sunday, students attended the Indianapolis 500 qualifying races. while participating in Verizon’s innovation challenges.
The challenge, presented by Ted Wendling and Philip Wood, involved students working in teams to propose how 5G can enhance motorsports. Throughout the challenge, students engaged in networking and were paired with mentors to develop their solutions.
Abbi Garvey with TechPoint, facilitated networking opportunities with members from TechPoint's Chief Information Officer network. TechPoint also provided an overview of resources available to students and discussed how they can stay engaged with TechPoint and its partners post-event.
