Bootcamp

Recap

Over the weekend, State Finalists traveled to Indianapolis to refine their pitches and complete innovation challenges with local business leaders.

Day 1

State Finals Prep

On Saturday, May 17th, our top 10 student teams gathered at Butler University’s Lacy School of Business for a transformative day of mentorship and collaboration. Kicking off the day, Emily Hawk, Assistant Dean of Innovation, welcomed attendees with warmth and encouragement. The momentum continued with an inspiring keynote from Geoff Zentz of AgriNovus and energizing insights from Claire Neuman of the Venture Club of Indiana.
Throughout the day, students participated in rotating sessions designed to sharpen their business acumen. They worked alongside more than 30 dedicated mentors, setting strategic goals, planning financials, and exploring funding opportunities. One highlight included a dynamic workshop led by Jennifer White of 5 & Rise Marketing Solutions, where teams learned how to craft impactful sizzle reels to tell their venture stories with clarity and conviction.
The day wrapped up with a shared meal and a spirited scavenger hunt across Butler’s beautiful campus—an engaging close to a powerful day of learning and connection.

Day 2

Innovation Challenge

On Sunday, our student teams explored the heart of Indianapolis innovation at HqO, the entrepreneurial hub of the 16 Tech Innovation District. After an eye-opening tour of the dynamic space, students took on the Innovation Challenge—an exciting, hands-on experience led by Andy Lehman, Program Director for 16 Tech.
The challenge tasked students with designing a brand-new entrepreneurial hub from the ground up, focused on cultivating a vibrant ecosystem of peers, mentors, partners, and investors. Working in teams and guided by expert mentors, students brainstormed and refined their ideas while expanding their professional networks.
The experience continued with a powerful panel discussion featuring seasoned leaders in product design and development. Their insights on overcoming challenges and iterating effectively offered real-world lessons the students can carry into their own ventures.
To cap off the weekend, each team sat down with a dedicated product development mentor for targeted feedback—helping identify gaps and strengthen their plans as they move closer to launching their businesses.
